The overall backbone of the construction is 'all solid'. This simply means that the sides, back and top all consist of solid wood, as opposed to laminated. The front of the Earth 70E W model is made of solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made of ply mahogany. This proven combination of woods gives the instrument a balanced sound with the necessary amount of tonal clarity and warmth. The mahogany neck is glued to an ovangkol fingerboard with twenty frets, and position dots make it easy to navigate. The wider neck (45 mm at the zero fret) will suit guitarists who prefer to play with finger technique.
