Guitar was built in the Fujigen factory in Japan for Fender Japan between the mid-80s and early 90s. In the late 70s and early 80s Fujigen were producing replicas of vintage guitars so close to the originals that even Fender could not replicate them, so rather than issue a lawsuit as Gibson and Fender had done with manufacturers producing inferior copies, Fender bought the company and they began production of official Fenders to fill the gap in the demand for quality copies of early Fender guitars. Tbe 52 reissue or TL-52 is one of the best known of the official replicas, however Fender spotters will be aware that in 1952 Fender did not produce Telecasters in a Sunburst finish. The first sunburst finishes were made in 1955 and came with a white scratchplate for the first time. This guitar then is a rare example of an MIJ TL-52 '55 variant with period correct features such as the 1 ply white scratchplate and 'top hat' pickup selecter. These are much rarer than the standard '52s although other than the finish everything else is the same. While it is possible to buy a butterscotch 52 reissue from Fender USA, Fender USA has to date never produced a replica of the iconic '55 sunburst tele. - Maple neck and fingerboard with a soft v-shape and a beautiful honeyed vintage tint finish Vintage '50s style pickups Three way pickup selecter.
